Compliance Training
Senate Bill 17 Compliance
This is a scenario-based compliance training that allows staff members to practice decision-making associated with recent legislation.
Audience: University Staff
Responsibilities: Instructional Design, eLearning Development
Tools Used: Articulate Rise 360, Mindmeister, Google Suite
The Problem
The client is a higher education institute that recently received findings from a self-audit to measure their compliance to legislation that had recently taken effect. Staff had been informed about the legislation with a training, but the self-audit revealed several potential violations that proved the training to be ineffective.
The Solution
While working with the subject matter expert who once held one of the positions affected by the new legislation, it became clear what was not effective with the previous training. The findings from the self audit shared with me inspired me to create an eLearning course that would allow staff to make decisions regarding newly passed compliance practices.
Reflection and Takeaways
With the help of the subject matter expert, I used the self-audit findings to create each scenario that school staff would potentially be faced with on any given day. I also wanted to present these scenarios in various ways so that learners could practice, learn and troubleshoot potential decisions. After later believing that I should have one way to deliver the scenarios, I received positive feedback by the subject matter expert and another stakeholder with my initial design of the scenario practice.
